Author's Query: Your Input is Requested

for a book to be published by McFarland & Co. on the development of HDTV.

The scope of the work is to explore and document the technology, as well as business and creative aspects of the global genesis of HD. Contributions from those who worked on deploying and perfecting HDTV and digital broadcasting are sought. Personal memories of facility and studio construction and initial broadcasts are of particular interest. All aquired material will be donanted to the Smithsonian Institution, Library of Congress and other appropriate archives.

Philip J Cianci

The author, Philip J Cianci, while with Philips Research, participated in the development of Advanced Television Systems, culminating in the Grand Alliance HDTV prototype. Mr. Cianci was with ESPN during the construction and commissioning of the Digital Center and the debut of SportsCenter in HD. He was the Editor of the Transition to Digital, a Broadcast Engineering Magazine e-Newsletter from 2005 through 2007 and is the author of two Focal Press Books. He currently serves on the SMPTE Journal Board of Editors.
